Save Pictures to Your MacBook

Steps
Using the Control-Click Menu
- Go to the photo you wish to save. Open the message, document, or web page that contains the photo you'd like to save on your MacBook.
- Not all web pages permit images to be saved or downloaded.
- Hover your cursor over the image. Using your trackpad or mouse, move the cursor over the picture you want to save.
- Press Control and click on the picture. Doing so opens a pop-up menu.
- If your mouse has a right-click function, you can also right-click on the image to invoke the pop-up menu.
- Yet another option is to activate "Secondary Click" in the "Trackpad" menu of System Preferences. Once enabled, a two-finger click will also bring up the menu.
- Click on Save Image As. It's near the bottom of the menu.
- Click on Save Image to "Downloads" to automatically save it to your Mac's "Downloads" folder.
- Click on Copy Image to save it to your clipboard so you can paste in a document.
- Click on Use Image as Desktop Picture to make it your Mac's wallpaper.
- Select a name. Type a name for the photo you'd like to save in the text field at the top of the dialog box.
- Select a folder. Using the "Where:" drop-down menu at the bottom of the dialog box, locate and click on the folder in which you'd like to save the image.
- Click on Save. It's in the lower-right corner of the dialog box. The picture will be saved to your MacBook in the folder you specified.
Using Drag and Drop
- Go to the photo you wish to save. Open the message, document, or web page that contains the photo you'd like to keep on your MacBook.
- Not all web pages permit images to be saved or downloaded.
- Resize the window. Click on the yellow button in the upper-left corner of the window that contains the image. This makes the window smaller so that your Mac's desktop is visible.
- Hover the cursor over the image. Using your trackpad or mouse, move the cursor over the picture you want to save. .
- Click and hold on the picture. Use your trackpad or mouse to do so.
- Drag the image to your desktop. While holding the click, use your trackpad or mouse to slide the image out of its current window and onto your Mac's desktop. A thumbnail of the image will follow the cursor.
- Release the click. When you see a white + in a green circle appear over the thumbnail of the picture, release the click you were holding. Now the picture has been saved to the desktop on your MacBook.
Tips
- Creating folders on your computer is a great way to organize photos and make them easier to find.
- Rename photos when you save them. Doing so will make the images easier to find when you want to locate them on your Mac.
