Change a Macbook Into a Smackbook
Anyone can get angry and smack their Macbook, but can you use that energy to make multiple screens on your computer? This is a guide to enhancing your Macbook by creating multiple desktops that can be switched by hitting the side of the screen!
Steps
- Download Desktop Manager.
- Download the Smackbook zip file.
- Then, download AMSTracker
- Installation & Configuration
- First, open the AMS Tracker and SmackBook files on your desktop. Then drag the box in the AMSTracker file called AMSTracker into the Smackbook file.
- Open the application on your desktop called Desktop Manager.
- Start the Terminal application. You can find it in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on your hard drive.
- Now, type "cd " into terminal and drag the Smackbook folder into the terminal. Press return.
- After that, you should see something similar to the following: "/Desktop/smackbook username$" (username should be your username). Type the following: "perl smack.pl" (without quotes) and press return.
- Presto! The terminal should say a message saying AMS hardware present and initialized. If it doesn't, exit the program and try again.
- Start by lightly tapping the bottom right side of the screen. Gradually tap harder until the desktop switches.
Tips
- Hit the Macbook firmly, but not too hard. It should just be hit hard enough to switch the desktop.
- Make sure you are on a solid, level surface that will not shake.
- This will not work with most iBooks or desktop computers.
- This only works for Macs with a built-in motion sensor.
- If you wish to disable this feature, simply quit the terminal app.
Warnings
- May damage your computer if you hit it too hard.
