Set Your Google+ Profile Picture

Google+ is a new social networking site with the revolutionary abilities to create circles of friends, hang out via group video chat with your circles, find online articles based on your interests, and more. Once you've uploaded some photos of yourself, you'll want to change your profile picture. Read this article to find out how.

Steps

  1. Log into any Google service with your Google account, such as Gmail. On the top bar, click on your name. In the box that expands, click on the "Change photo" bar that appears when you hover over your current profile picture.
  2. A theater box will pop up above your webpage. Find the photo that you'd like to change your profile picture to.
  3. After the photo uploads, you can optionally use Google Plus's quick editing tools. Click "Set as Profile Photo" when you are satisfied.
    • Click "left" or "right" to rotate the picture.
    • Move the box around the picture to set your desired crop.
    • Click "Creative Kit" if you'd like to be taken to a Picasa plugin to make more advanced changes.

  4. You have successfully changed your profile picture!

Tips

  • When you're on your profile, clicking on your profile picture allows you to quickly shift between pictures in your "Profile photos" album. This makes it really easy to make a previous profile picture your default again.
  • All of the photos that you have set as your profile picture will appear in an album titled "Profile photos." This is accessible from the photo tab of your profile.
  • If you didn't upload a new profile photo and instead accepted the default "old style" Google profile photo, it is going to look low resolution and grainy. Even Larry Page fell for this one. Solve this problem by deleting your old legacy profile image and uploading a new one.
