Tag People in Photos on Google+

Google+ is a new social networking site with the revolutionary abilities to create circles of friends, hang out via group video chat with your circles, find online articles based on your interests, and more. After uploading your photos to Google+, you'll want to tag the people in them. This informs viewers of who's in your photos and lets the people tagged know that a photo of them has been uploaded. Name tagging people also grants them access to that photo and the related album.

Steps

  1. Log into your Google Plus account. On the left-hand menu, click Photos. For instructions on adding tags in an existing photo, click "Albums" and consult the next section. For instructions on adding tags in a new photo, click "Add Photos" and skip to the second section.

Adding Tags to an Existing Photo

  1. Go through your albums to find the photo that you'd like to tag. Click on it to open it up in lightbox view.
  2. Google Plus automatically detects faces in photos. Mouseover the face for a "Click face to tag" bubble.
  3. In the blank text box that pops up, type in the person's name. Google Plus will try to fill in the person's name as you type. People in your circles are listed first, followed by other popular Google Plus profiles. Press Enter to confirm the tag.
  4. Now when you view the photo in your albums, the person is tagged!
    • Each tag is also listed on the right. Click on the "x" to remove a tag.

Adding Tags to a New Photo

  1. Select the photos you'd like to upload from your computer and click "Upload." Change the details of the album as you see fit.
  2. Google Plus will automatically detect faces in your photos and make them available for tagging. Select each face that you'd like to tag on the left and enter the person's name on the right.
  3. Google Plus will try to fill in the person's name as you type. People in your circles are listed first, followed by other popular Google Plus profiles. Hit "Tag" to confirm.
  4. Now when you view the photo in your albums, the person is tagged!
    • Each tag is also listed on the right. Click on the "x" to remove a tag.
  5. Finished.



Tips

  • Adding tags will notify the people you have tagged. They will be able to view the photo and the related album.
  • If Google+ recognizes a face in the picture, a "Click face to tag" bubble will appear when you mouseover the picture. Click on that button and type in the person's name, and press enter to name tag them.
  • Google Plus refers to tags as "name tags."
  • To remove a name tag, click on the "x" next to the person's name. Press OK to confirm your desire to remove the tag.
