Set a Table to Impress Guests

Have you ever walked into a fancy restaurant and seen how they've set the tables? Isn't it amazing? You're worried because tonight you are having a fancy dinner party but don't know how to set the table! To make your table look like a piece of art, read on.

Steps

  1. Buy the things on the "Things You'll Need" section.
  2. Place the chargers on the table, (if using them) then put the plates on top of each.
  3. Place your Make Christmas Centerpieces, if you have one.
  4. Fold each napkin as desired (and loop through a ring, if using one). Place napkin to the left of the plate under the fork(s) or in the middle of each plate. There are many ways to fold the napkins.
  5. Place the forks on the left side of the plate. The salad fork should be toward the far left, the main course fork closer to the plate. (The salad fork is the smaller one).Place the dessert fork above the plate and the dessert spoon above the fork. (The pointy part of the fork will be pointed toward the right, the spoon mouth will be pointed toward the left.)
  6. Place the knives and spoons on the right side. The knives should be closer to the plate, with the spoons on the far right. Make sure the sharp part of the knife is pointing toward the inside of the plate. It will go in the order of: steak (big) knife, little knife, big spoon, little spoon.
  7. On the left side of the plate (above the forks), you will place the bread plate with butter knife on top, edge-to-edge.
  8. On the top right, set the glasses and/or goblets.
  9. Step back. Your work is finished. You have created the Mona Lisa of Tables!
