Sew a Cell Phone Bag for a Gift
While you can buy a case for your cell phone, where's the fun in doing that? To make that really special case that everyone is talking about, sew one yourself. By creating and designing your own, you can get that cool custom look. Want to know how? Keep reading to find out.
Steps
- Measure the cell phone’s length, width, and height. Then, write down the measurements.
- Make a pattern for your phone on any kind of paper, using the measurements you just made. Make sure that you add a 1/2 of an inch to every side (this is for the seam allowance, and to fit the width of your phone).
- Fold your cloth in half and pin the pattern through both pieces. Now, you can trace your pattern on to the material you are using.
- Cut out around the line you made.
- Now is the best time to add any personal touches to your case, such as a sewn-on the name or anything else you can think of.
- Fold the bag together with the outside (the part you made fancy) inside.
- Sew the sides together, and right-side out the bag.
- Plump it out. You did it! Now enjoy your new phone case!
Tips
- Make sure you choose a fabric you like!
- Check your pattern more than once before you cut the fabric.
- Make sure you know exactly which phone the receiver of your gift has.
- Have extra fabric in case you make a mistake.
- Have fun!
Warnings
- If you're a beginner sewer, be careful! And you might want to get some help.
- When tracing, keep the line straight.
- Don't let young kids do this without supervision!
