Start up a Nitro RC Vehicle

This will give detailed explanation on how to start up your nitro vehicle. It will explain how to correctly start up the engine for those who are new or whose who have forgotten.

Steps

  1. Check your nitro vehicle for any damage from your last run. Look for cracks, loose screws, chipped screws, any thing missing or damaged and a very simple way to easily see problems is to have a clean vehicle. This way, dirt or any grime won't obstruct any damage to your car.
  2. Make sure all your batteries have enough energy to get your car through the run and don't be cheap. Would you rather simply replace some old batteries then have to pay to fix your car because your battery died and tried to challenge a sidewalk? Make sure the batteries in the remote are working well and that the batteries that are in your car also work well. Make sure your glow starter is working and it has enough energy.
  3. Make sure everything is well lubricated and that your air filter is clean and oiled.
  4. Take your car to an area where you can pour your fuel without any hazards. After you pour your fuel, prime it so that your engine has fuel to start up with. Then stick your glow starter into the engine and depending on your car, you can manually pull-start it by giving short but quick pulls and make sure that you do not damage the starter by pulling too far back. You can also use an electric starter which resembles a drill in which you can stick it in the engine and start it without any effort.
  5. Finished.

Tips

  • Check that glow starter has been fully charged, if car doesn't start after charging remove glow plug from engine and place on glow starter and see if there is a glow if there is not a glow then check with another glow starter. if there still isn't a glow then buy a new glow plug.
  • If you are trying to operate your vehicle on a cool/cold days, try using a hair dryer to heat up your engine so that they will work at their normal temperatures.
  • Prime the engine by placing a finger over the exhaust tip and cranking the engine over. Watch the fuel as it moves through the fuel tubing into the carb, stopping once it reaches it. Don't over prime the engine or it will flood and refuse to start. You can also take the tube that's attached to the exhaust hold throttle wide open and blow in it.
  • Bring along a screwdriver in order to make make last minute adjustments to the High-speed needle, the low speed needle, or your main needle.
  • New engines that have a lot of compression will be harder to turn over and start. Loosen the glow plug slightly when starting and tighten it once the engine is running.
  • Start your vehicle on a platform in which your car's wheels are not touching the ground.
  • Operate your vehicle with a mounted body, this will help to keep dirt and other grime off your car and crashing will not damage your car as much as without a body.
  • Start it in an open area that is well ventilated.

Warnings

  • Do not set your engine too lean, because that may damage your engine, and could possibly refuse to start.
  • If your car has crashed or in any way damaged, first inspect it and make sure nothing is broken. If you continue to operate, You can damage your car even further.
