Steps
- First and foremost, the shipment must be checked in. A barcode scanner is quicker and more effective, but sometimes costly.Always check to see if a scanner is compatible with your system. If your system shows that you have an item on hand but when you go to find said item,it's missing.Inventory in retail is a crucial point in maintaining a business.
- Inputting data for inventory is a definite must. This is the basis of inventory management, for if every item is never shown in the system it would waste valuable time to check if it is there manually.
- Incorrect order can be easy to notice but sometimes it is to late and you my lose money and a customer.Always check your numbers carefully while you put it up.
- If you are interrupted during the process of imputing data and/or placing items on a shelf in numerical order, do NOT leave unattended. If someone comes along and disturbs the system or item it could be lost and cause inventory level problems.
- After you have put your stock up,try to neaten every thing out even nicer, remember that a little extra time can save more time in the future.this means that some product-lines tend to be very tedious by being unkempt. The time it takes to find a particular item could very well cause you to miss a sale.
- A daily report of your inventory should be reviewed if you are in a small to medium size store to check for items which quantity equals -1 or less.
- Keeping a constant eye on your inventory is always an idea, if you you are well staffed and have a good system. However, if you have 3 people on hand at a time, it may be best to check once a week instead of the preferred once a day
