Steps
- Load up on the caffeine. Drink some coffee, soda, energy drinks, or tea (whichever you prefer). If you don't have a drink, try eating a sugary food, such as candy or ice cream. Just keep in mind that you should be prepared for the crash kicking in the next day.
- Keep moving. Don't stay in your comfortable bed; you'll get very tired.
- Don't watch boring documentaries or news. Watch exciting shows that keep you interested.
- Sit up in bed instead. If you can't keep moving because you'll make noise, sit up, it will make a huge difference.
- Drink water! Make sure it's as cold as possible. It will keep you hydrated and refreshed. Also, you'll need to take plenty of bathroom breaks, which will keep you up and moving around, which is what we want.
- Splash water on your face if you get tired. This will tell your body that you're not ready to fall asleep just yet.
- Play solitaire or another card game of some sort. Another suggestion would be to tell your fortune with cards!
- Make up a game!
- Slap or pinch yourself.
- Exercise. However, if you do exercise, make sure to do it as quietly as possible.
- Also, certain exercises will require you to hop about and thump quite a bit, thus waking your parents. Try to avoid these exercises.
- You can read, but read exciting stories that will keep you moving, awake and hooked on the story.
- Since this is on a school night then do not stay up over three o'clock, because you will probably be too tired to go to school the next day.
- Don't act like you're sick or tired the next day. If you act sick and tired, your parents will confront you and be curious as to what you did that night.
Tips
- Make sure you know where all the creaks in your floorboards are. One wrong step could wake up a light sleeper!
- If you're in bed and your parent(s) come, just quickly close your eyes so you look like you're sleeping.
- Wear socks to prevent noise.
- Make a map of all the creaky stairs so you can avoid stepping too hard on them. You could wake your parents if you are going downstairs to get something.
- If you have a baby sister or brother, make sure to be alert at all times if you go out of your bedroom.
- If you have a DS and Scribblenauts or Super Scribblenauts, play that on the title screen! Have fun and see where your mind takes you.
- If you want to lay down, be sure to move your leg or arm around so you don't fall asleep.
Warnings
- Milk makes you sleepy with a chemical called tryptophan.
- Don't do this too often; it's bad to run on little/no sleep.
- Don't stay up all the time, it can ruin your sleeping schedule.
