Take a Shot of Tequila Like a Man

Drinking is an age old tradition filled with a colorful history; none more colorful than the drinking traditions of sailors. One such tradition, is the initial shot of tequila during a night of rabble-rousing and debauchery.

Steps

  1. Find a shot glass, preferably one that will accommodate the equivalent of two shots.
  2. Choose the tequila to be imbibed. Choice of tequila is an integral part of the tradition. The cheaper the tequila, the manlier the shot-taker appears. Anything with a worm in it gives you an instant man status, even if you tear up afterward. Premium tequila, such as Patron, is suggested for beginners.
  3. After choosing the tequila you must gather all the accoutrement.
  4. Find either a ripe lemon or lime.
  5. Cut the lemon/lime into eighths.
  6. Grab salt.
  7. Pour tequila into the shot glass. Fill it to the brim.
  8. Shake some salt onto the webbing in between your thumb and index finger.
  9. Hold lemon/lime in the same hand that you have poured the salt on.
  10. Grab the shot glass in your free hand. Raise the shot glass and offer a toast. 'Salud' should suffice.
  11. Lick the salt off of your hand.
  12. In one smooth motion take the tequila and drink it.
  13. Suck on the lime.
  14. Repeat until satisfied.

Tips

  • Singing "Anchors Aweigh" is an added touch, but should only be undertaken by the experienced.

Warnings

  • Snorting the salt may cause sinus problems.
  • The lemon/lime juice may cause corneal burns.
  • May cause self esteem issues, as you realize you are nothing but a little girl who needs to man up.
  • Drinking to excess can cause a host of problems such as: "beer goggles", over emotionality, and death.
