Trade on Pokémon Using the GTS
The Global Trade Station, also known as the Global Terminal and the GTS, is a good place to get Pokémon worldwide. But a lot of people do not trade the right way. It is easy once you get the hang of it! While the GTS system in Generation IV and V games is no longer supported due to the shutdown of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in 2014, the GTS is located in Jubilife City (Sinnoh), and Goldenrod City (Johto). On Pokémon X, Y Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire, it's on the PSS (Player Search System). On Pokémon Sun and Moon, it's in Festival Plaza.
Steps
- Travel to the GTS. Remember, it is much faster to travel by using a Pokémon with Fly!
- Talk to the person behind the desk at the GTS. They will save your progress.
- You will be transported to another room. Your character will walk up to a device in the middle of the room. If you want to trade a Pokémon, click 'Deposit Pokémon'.
- Select the Pokémon you want to trade (the Pokémon can either be in your party or in a box). Click 'Offer'.
- Select the Pokémon you would like to receive, what gender you want that Pokémon to be, and the level you want that Pokémon to be.
- Music will begin to play and your Pokémon will be put inside a Poké Ball. The Poké Ball will fly away.
- You can now leave the GTS. You must wait for another Pokémon player to see your offer, and accept your offer. You may do what you like for this time; just remember to save your progress. You may turn your console off if you wish.
- If no players have accepted your offer, nothing will happen the next time you log in to the GTS. If you want to take your Pokémon back, click 'Summary', and then click 'Take back'.
- If another Pokémon player has decided to trade with you, the next time you log in to the GTS, you will receive your desired Pokémon! However, you are unable to obtain the Pokémon you have just traded.
- The Pokémon you have just received will go to your Pokémon party, but if your party is full, the Pokémon will go to a PC box.
- You now own a new Pokémon! You are able to battle with this Pokémon, and everything else, like a normal Pokémon.
Tips
- Traded Pokémon gain EXP points quicker than other Pokémon. So they also level up faster!
- Pokémon with the Classic Ribbon or Premier Ribbon cannot be traded on the GTS.
- You are only able to request Pokémon that you have seen or caught.
- Be realistic. For example, do not ask for a, "lv. 9 or under Arceus". This is impossible!
- Trade wisely! Be careful about what Pokémon you trade. Don't trade your rare Pokémon for common Pokémon!
- People will not usually trade their rare Pokémon for weak, common Pokémon. For example, don't offer a level 1 Magikarp for a level 100 Mew. People will not want to trade!
Warnings
- Never hack the game in order to cheat or to gain things at an easier rate.
- Remember to save your progress!
- Do not leave your Pokémon in the GTS too long. If you do, it will flee.
- Make sure you have an adequate number of gym badges. If you don't and your traded Pokémon is above your max Gym Badge (or in Pokémon Sun and Moon, trial)'s level, it can disobey orders!

- The only Pokémon games that have the GTS are Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, Pokémon SoulSilver, Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, Pokémon White 2, Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon Sun, and Pokémon Moon. So you will need one of these games.
