Travel to Siberia by Air

In the past it used to be difficult to access this untouched region of Russia by air. Now companies have opened up commercial flights making getting to the once ‘impenetrable fortress' a simple task for any adventurer. This is your guide to getting there with ease.

Steps

  1. Organise your Russian visa. You may require a visa to visit Russia. Contact your Russian consulate or embassy in your country for more information and be sure to leave yourself some time for processing.
  2. Choose your international connection. You will need to chose an international hub to connect to your flight into Siberia. Travellers from America and Europe best use Moscow and St Petersburg as their hub. Flyers from Asia and Oceania should use Beijing or Bangkok as their connecting flight.
  3. Choose your Siberian destination. From your international hub you can chose your Siberian destination. There are several flights that operate, but Major cities that are a must see are Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ulan Ude, Irkutsk, Yakutsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
  4. Choose your Airline Provider. There are several airlines that operate to specific cities. Visit their websites for times and prices.
  5. Experience Siberia. Russia is the biggest country in the world and isn’t a simple task to tackle it on your own. You can’t miss destinations such as Kamchatka, Lake Baikal; the deepest lake in the world or the breathtaking untouched mountains of the Altai Region in Siberia.
