Turn Off Instagram Comments on Android
This article teaches you how to disable comments on new or existing Instagram posts when you’re using an Android.
Steps
Editing an Existing Post
- Open Instagram. It’s the red, purple, and orange camera icon on your home screen. If you don’t see it there, you’ll find it in the app drawer.
- If you’re not signed in to Instagram, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in now.
- Tap the profile icon. It’s the silhouette of a person’s head and shoulders at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Scroll to the post.
- Tap ⁝. It’s at the top-right corner of the post.
- Tap Turn Off Commenting. Comments are now disabled for this post.
- If you want to re-enable commenting later, tap ⁝ again and select Turn On Commenting.
Making a New Post
- Open Instagram. It’s the red, purple, and orange camera icon on your home screen. If you don’t see it there, you’ll find it in the app drawer.
- If you’re not signed in to Instagram, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in now.
- Tap the new post button. It’s the plus sign in a square at the bottom of the screen.
- Select a photo or video and tap Next.
- Select a filter and tap Next. Selecting a filter is optional.
- Tap Advanced Settings. It’s at the bottom of the screen.
- Slide the “Turn off commenting” switch to the On position. When the switch turns blue, you’ll know that commenting is disabled for this post.
- Tap the back button to return to the post.
- Type a caption. If you want to include text along with your post, type it into the “Write a caption…” field.
- Tap Share. Your post is now shared with your followers. They’ll be able to click the heart button to show support, but they will not be able to comment.
