Use Android to Call a Taxi

This wikiHow teaches you how to order a taxi on your Android device with a taxi app or your phone app. You can also use your Android to order a ride share service like Call-for-a-Lyft-Car or Hire-an-Uber-Car.

Steps

Using a Taxi App

  1. Download a taxi-calling app from the Google Play Store. To do so:
    • Open Google Play Store on your Android device.
    • Tap the search bar at the top of the screen and type taxi.
    • Tap the magnifying glass icon in the lower-right corner of the keyboard.
    • Scroll down and tap a taxi app that's popular in your region, such as Easy, Curb, Taxify, or Taxi Cabs USA.

  2. Open the taxi app you installed.
  3. Sign up or create an account, if required. Many apps require an account for payment and safety reasons.
  4. Follow the in-app instructions. The user interface will vary from app to app. Follow the prompts for the app that you downloaded to enter your pick-up location and destination, or even choose the driver.
  5. Call a taxi. Use the app to order a taxi immediately or to reserve a taxi for a future ride.

Using the Phone App

  1. Open a Web browser.
    • Alternatively, you can tap the Google Search app or widget if you have them on your home screen.
  2. Type the name of your city and taxi. Do so in the search bar.
  3. Scroll down and choose a taxi company.
  4. Call the taxi company. Many companies will have CALL links in the search results listing. Tap CALL to open your phone app and place the call.
    • Alternatively, tap a taxi company in the search results. Tap the call link on the home page or take note of the phone number, open your phone app, enter the phone number, and tap the call button.
