Post Gifs in a Discord Chat on Android

This article teaches you how to share a GIF on Discord when you’re using an Android. Before you begin, make sure you have the GIF file saved to your phone or tablet.

Steps

Sharing in a Direct Message

  1. Open Discord. The icon is light blue and features a white smiling game controller. You’ll find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.
    • If you’re not already signed in to Discord, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in now.
  2. Tap . It’s at the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. Tap Friends. Your friends list will appear.
  4. Tap All. This displays a list of your friends, whether online or off.
  5. Tap the person you want to see the GIF.
  6. Tap the chat button. It’s the two overlapping chat bubbles at the bottom-right corner of the screen. This opens a direct message with your friend.
  7. Tap +. It’s at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Several icons will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Tap the image or files icon. The image icon looks like a mountain scene, and the files icon is a sheet of paper with a downturned corner.
  9. Select the GIF. If you opened your images, scroll to the GIF and then tap it when you find it. If you opened your list of files, browse through the folders, then tap to select it.
  10. Tap the send button. It’s the paper airplane icon on a round blue bottom at the bottom-right corner of the screen. This sends your GIF to the selected Discord user.

Sharing in a Channel

  1. Open Discord. The icon is light blue and features a white smiling game controller. You’ll find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.

  2. Tap . It’s at the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. Tap a server. Servers appear along the left side of the screen as icons/avatars. Selecting a server displays its channels in the center panel.
  4. Tap a channel.
  5. Tap +. It’s at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Several icons will appear.
  6. Tap the image or files icon. The image icon looks like a mountain scene, and the files icon is a sheet of paper with a downturned corner.
  7. Select the GIF. If you opened your images, scroll to the GIF and then tap it when you find it. If you opened your list of files, browse through the folders, then tap to select it.
  8. Tap the send button. It’s the paper airplane icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. In a few moments, the GIF will appear in the chat channel.
