Use the Bathroom While Camping

Almost everyone likes to camp- its fun and great exercise. But that rustic vacation does not include a bathroom for the most part. If you are on a country vacation, here is how to 'go' at camp.

Steps

  1. Gather toilet paper in a small bag, also take a small shovel or a poop bag like you do when walking your dog. Tell your group that you will be back in 10 or so minutes. Hike 100' away.
  2. Find a bush, or a shrub. This is where you are going to urinate. If you need to poop, go to step 12.
  3. Go behind the bush. You are now looking out into the woods. Make sure no one is coming.
  4. If you are wearing pants or shorts pull them down to your knees. Hold a skirt up. Tug your underpants halfway to your knees.
  5. Start squatting, and keep looking forward. When you think you are halfway down, stop.
  6. Your underpants may need to be adjusted now.
  7. Hold yourself up by one hand, secure pants or skirt with other.
  8. Squat the rest of the way down.
  9. Begin to urinate, guiding the stream toward the bush.
  10. Wipe yourself with toilet paper, a tissue or napkin, or do a shake and wiggle to make you dry. Collect the used paper in a Ziplock bag and take it with you. In case you haven't one just drop them in your pee spot or try to hide it under undergrowth and dirt to prevent your paper will blow around and make a real mess of the bush!.
  11. Pull your pants up and go. You're done!!
  12. If you need to defecate, hike 200' out and find a thick tree. Go behind it.
  13. Dig a pit where your wastes will fall. This pit should be 6" deep large enough to poop into.
  14. Face away from the tree and look forward. Pull your pants and undies down halfway to your knees.
  15. Stick your bum out and over the hole.
  16. Pull your pants down to your knees.
  17. Bend at the waist and at the knees.
  18. Defecate, but don't urinate. You'll be soaked.
  19. Wipe with biodegradable toilet paper or a leaf. Throw it into the hole. Do not litter!
  20. Bury your waste.
