Verify Your Identity on Elance
Elance is a popular online staffing website that allows people from all over the world to connect and work on projects even from across oceans. Through Elance, people find jobs they can do even from home. However, one inhibiting thing about working online is not being totally sure who you are dealing with. To put people you work with at ease, simply verify your Elance profile through the website; this will increase your chances of finding good and honest work, and can be done relatively quickly.
Steps
- Launch an Internet browser. Open your preferred Internet browser by double-clicking on its icon on your desktop.
- Go to the Elance website. When you have the browser open, type in www.elance.com in the address bar at the top of the screen, and hit Enter. This will bring you to the website’s main page.
- Log into your account. You have to be logged in before you can verify your identity. Enter your email address and password into the text fields to the right, and click on “Sign In” to access your account.
- Check the completeness percentage of your account. Once logged in, you will land on your Elance job page. To the right side of the screen you will see your profile picture and a profile completeness percentage, which defaults at 60%.
- Add to your percentage and eventually complete the remaining 40 percent by taking a skills test, joining groups, and verifying your account.
- Take the skills test. Add to your percentage by taking skills tests. To begin, click on the “Take Skills Test” button below your completeness percentage.
- Once you’re in the tests section, take any test that is relevant to your job; just click on the corresponding job test to load the information you need.
- Click on “Okay,” and take the test to get your rating.
- Good test results will bring up your percentage to 70%.
- Join groups. Click on the “Join Groups” button just below your percentage on the main page to open a page with recommended groups for you. Click on a group to read its description, and click on the green “Join This Group” button at the bottom of the page to join the group.
- This will raise your percentage to 80%.
- Click on “View Profile Tips” for another 10%. Another way to add 10% to your profile is by clicking on “View Profile Tips” button located on the main page below your completeness percentage. Once the page loads, read the information provided.
- When you’re finished, you will be up to 90% when you go back to www.Elance.com.
- Verify your identity. To get the 100% completeness rate, verify your identify by first clicking on the “Verify Identity” box below your percentage. You will be redirected to a new screen where you need to give your Skype ID and the best time for you to receive a Skype call from Elance; click on “Okay” to verify your appointment.
- Wait for a call from Elance. During your brief Skype meeting with an Elance employee, you will be asked for your state ID.
- When the conversation is done, your completeness percentage will be at 100% and your identity considered verified.
