Activate BIS on Cell C

Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) will allow you to use Blackberry features that require Internet connectivity such as web browsing, email, instant messaging, social networking, and more. Follow the steps outlined in this article to learn how to activate BIS with Cell C mobile.

Steps

  1. Dial *147# from your Blackberry device.
  2. Select option 7 from the voice menu. Option 7 will provide you with a variety of different Blackberry Internet services to choose from[1].
  3. Select the option for the BIS plan that best suits your needs. Examples of plans you may be offered are the Blackberry Social Plan which provides access to Blackberry Messenger and social networks, and Blackberry Enterprise Service (BES), which may provide you with access to your work email account[2].
  4. Continue to follow the prompts to pay for your BIS plan. Plan prices will vary depending on the BIS package you select.
  5. Turn your phone off and on to refresh your network connection with Cell C. Your BIS plan will now be activated on your Blackberry device[3].

Tips

  • If you prefer to have your BIS set up with a Cell C customer service representative, dial 140 from your Blackberry device to contact the Cell C call center.
  • If your BIS plan is still not working after following the steps outlined in this article, call Cell C at 084 155 5555 and select option 2. This option will arrange for service books to be sent to your Blackberry device, which are special settings required for your Internet service to function optimally.
  • In some cases, your Blackberry device may be running outdated software that prevents you from using certain features. To update the software on your Blackberry, visit http://www.cellc.co.za/support/setup/blackberry and click on “Click here” at the bottom of the landing page to get started.
