Add Trips to Delta Skymiles

Passengers flying on Delta Air Lines have the option to enroll in Delta SkyMiles, which is a free program that gives passengers rewards for flying on Delta airline. If you've just signed up for SkyMiles and have used Delta to take a trip in the past 30 days, have not received a trip credit or are planning a trip on Delta airlines, you may be asking how to add trips to Delta SkyMiles accounts.

Steps

  1. Provide your SkyMiles account number when you book your flight via the Delta Air Lines website. Submitting your account number when purchasing your tickets allows your trip credit to be automatically added to your SkyMiles account. You will be asked for your frequent flyer number when you enter in your passenger information. If you log onto the Delta SkyMiles site first, and then book your trip, you do not have to enter your frequent flyer number because it is automatically added to your reservation.
  2. Alert the customer service representative that you are a SkyMiles account holder if you are booking a trip on the telephone. If you happen to forget your account number, you can provide your current address and the date of last account activity or trip in order for your number to be researched. A Delta representative is also able to enroll you in the program at the time of ticket purchase.
  3. If you bought your ticket before you got your frequent flyer number, find it using the Find My Trip feature. Then edit the booking and add your frequent flyer number in the ticket information and save. Your booking will then appear in My Bookings.
  4. Bring your Delta SkyMiles card with you if you are purchasing your ticket at a Delta Air Line ticket office or a travel agent. When the customer service representative enters your passenger information for the ticket purchase, you will be asked for your SkyMiles account number. If you can not locate your SkyMiles account number, a representative at a Delta Air Line ticket office can look it up for you.
  5. Complete an online Mileage Credit Request form on the Delta Air Lines website. In order to submit your form and receive the credit, you need to have your 13 digit ticket or e-Ticket number, as well as your SkyMiles account number. Mileage credit requests need to be submitted within 9 months of your flight date. If you just enrolled in the SkyMiles program and flew on a Delta flight within 30 days of enrolling, retroactive credit will be awarded.

Tips

  • It can take anywhere from 30 to 90 days for the trip credits to show on your SkyMiles account. Save your ticket information until you verify you have received the correct number of points.
