Air Out Your Car While Driving

Sometimes it is hard to get a smell out of a car by merely opening the windows. Such lingering smells include but aren't limited to fast food, flatulence, or cigarette smoke.

Steps

  1. Make sure that you locate the source of the smell and remove it from the car as much as possible.
  2. Keep the windows down and drive normally.
  3. Change direction frequently in order to disrupt the airflow in the car and allow the air to circulate out.

Alternate Method

  1. Open both passenger and driver side windows all the way down.
  2. Drive at about {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} forward.
  3. Make a sharp 90 degree turn to the right or to the left.
  4. Understand that the air in the car will continue moving forward whereas the car will now be traveling perpendicular to the air, causing the air to exit out the windows.

Tips

  • This works especially well when you don't have a lot of room to build up speed, such as in a parking lot or garage.
  • Your vehicle does not have to be moving quickly for this to work.

Warnings

  • If you drive a top heavy vehicle, such as a SUV, be careful not to drive too fast when you turn because you could roll over.
  • Watch for traffic and pedestrians before attempting this!
