Ask Your Parents for RuneScape Membership
So, you've completed a lot of free-to-play activities on RuneScape, and want something more. Why not get a membership? But, you have to ask your parents first. If you want to convince your parents to let you get a membership, read on.

Steps
- Get your RuneScape account ready for membership. Make lots of GP and Reach Level 40 on RuneScape to a reasonable amount. Stock up on free-to-play items that can help you as a member, such as runes, armor, weapons, or just money.
- Check your calendar. Is your birthday or a major holiday coming up? Try asking for membership as a present.
- Convince your parents that you are mature enough. Do all of your chores without complaining, surprise them with a favor, and don't pick any fights with siblings.
- Don't be demanding. Sit down with your parents and show them what the game is, how it works, and the parents' guide to the game. Some parents may change their minds if they know what's going on, and may be happy to see that providing a membership can keep you occupied for longer. Alternatively, offer to pay for a RuneScape membership card.
- Offer to pay for it yourself if they still say no. Promise to them that you won't spend every waking moment on the computer. Make a promise sheet for you and your parents to sign that includes which hours or how much time you are allowed to play RuneScape if membership is allowed. Another option is shorten or limit the membership by a few months, for example a six month limit. You can even spare out your monthly allowance in exchange for membership.
- Do something for your parents. Rub their backs. Cook a meal for them. Do your chores properly and promptly. Wait until they are in a good mood, then ask them.
- Wait until you get your report card. Try to convince them that your grades are good, and you can still keep up with your grades while having some fun on the computer.
- Go sit beside your parents and play RuneScape. Go look for members objects and each time you see some say, "Oh no, you must be a member for this." Do this until they come to you.
- Look for neighbors or anyone in your relative and friends who might need some help, or part-time job during summer break. Let them know you want to do some simple work, like walking the dog, painting the fence for 1 - 3 months of membership in RuneScape.
Tips
- If your parents do say yes, thank them. Your appreciation may just inspire them to keep your membership going for longer.
- Make the best of your membership. Earn quest points, and raise your skill levels like crazy.
- If you realize that the members' game may not be for you, or if you see that being a free player is still fun, you can tell your parents to cancel. Do this promptly so they don't waste money!
- Don't do anything that would make your parents cancel the membership. They can cancel at any time, so stay on their good side.
- As for the members' game, you have many choices to make. If you have an e-mail address, you can sign up for the Loyalty Rewards Programme. The rewards, which are all in-game, are pretty cool, and the titles and emotes carry over into the free game.
- Be careful in member worlds. There is poison, disease, boss monsters, and hazardous areas to watch out for. Always be prepared.
- Another way to secretly pay for a membership is to buy a RuneScape game card. Considering it doesn't involve credit cards, debit cards, or deductible points, this is your best shot. Alternatively, you could make other deals through Pay By Cash or the like, but be careful.
- If your parents say no as the final answer, you can use text message subscription service for £5 or $9.99 US on your cell phone. This may not work if your parents pay attention to the billing statement.
Warnings
- Watch out for scammers! They can pull off even more elaborate scams in member worlds.
- Don't go into areas if you don't know what they are! Check the Game Guide or RuneScape Wiki for information on these areas.
- Be careful in PvP or PvM situations. The members' game can get complicated fast.
