Back Up Your Instagram Images Before Deleting Your Account

Have you decided it’s time to delete your Instagram account, but are worried you will lose all of your photos and videos? While Instagram does not provide a direct solution, you can conveniently back up your content using a free online image transfer tool called Instaport. Simply visit the website, enter your Instagram username and download your photos.

Steps

Backing Up Your Instagram Account

  1. Open your web browser. Tap to open a browser such as Safari, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Go to www.instagram.com and login to your account. Keep this open while transferring content.
  3. Open www.instaport.me in a new tab. This will redirect you to www.vibbi.com and the login portal to Instaport.
  4. Enter your Instagram username or URL. Enter your Instagram username in the window that appears in the middle of the page under the caption “Get Started”.
  5. Tap "Continue". This will bring you to your personal Instaport home page.
  6. Tap "Download All Posts". This is a black button that appears on the right hand side of the page.
    • You cannot select a section of photos at a time.
    • Downloading all posts will not duplicate photos or videos previously uploaded or saved on Instaport.
  7. Wait a few moments for your photos and videos to download. The screen will say Finished when your photos have downloaded.
    • Your photos or videos will be saved as mph4 or jpg files under Instaport folders located in the Downloads section of your computer.
    • You can move and save content to your computer by clicking on the Instaport folder or individual files and dragging to the appropriate location.
  8. Tap "Back". This button appears in the upper left hand corner and will return you to your personal Instaport home page.
    • If this screen fails to upload, return to the home page by clicking on the Instaport button in the upper right hand of the page.
    • If the content has not uploaded correctly, click "Download All Posts" and try again.
  9. Confirm photos and videos have uploaded successfully. Your uploaded content should appear on your Instaport home page. Once you confirm a successful upload, you have successfully backed up your Instagram content.

Deleting Your Instagram Account

  1. Tap open your Instagram account. Find Instagram among your applications in your phone and open.
  2. Tap on the person icon. This icon is located on the far lower right hand side of the page.
  3. Tap on the settings icon. This icon is located on the upper right hand side of the page and appears as a metallic gear wheel.
  4. Tap on "Help Center". Scroll down to the Support Section and tap on "Help Center". This will take you to the Options page.
  5. Tap on "Managing Your Account". This will bring up a list of options for managing your account.
  6. Tap on "Delete Your Account". This will bring up two options for either temporarily or permanently deleting your account.
  7. Tap "How do I delete my account?" This will bring up text on how to delete your account.
  8. Tap the link "Delete Your Account page". Scroll down to find the blue link labeled "Delete Your Account page". After opening this link, you will be asked to enter your Instagram login information.
  9. Login to Instagram. Enter your username and password where asked. You will then be taken to the Delete Your Account page.
  10. Select a reason for deleting your account. Scroll down to the question "Why are you deleting your account?" Select an option from the scroll down list and tap "Done".
  11. Re-enter your password. Enter your password under the caption, "To continue, please re-enter your password."
  12. Tap "Permanently delete my account". Your account has been deleted.

Tips

•When you are transferring photos from Instaport to another platform, ensure there is sufficient available space. Otherwise, your content may fail to upload onto the new platform.

•If you are using a mobile web browser to access Instaport, you can email and text uploaded content.

•Make sure you have a stable Internet connection to ensure a successful upload.

Warnings

•Once your Instagram account is deleted, you cannot reactivate the account or use the same username again.
