Hide Hashtags on Instagram on Android
This article teaches you how to hide the hashtags on your Instagram post when you’re on an Android.
Steps
- Open Instagram. It’s the red, orange, and purple camera icon on your home screen. If you don’t see it there, you’ll find it in the app drawer.
- Tap the plus (+) symbol to make a new post. It’s at the bottom-center of the screen.
- Select your photo or video. If you prefer to create a new photo or video rather than choose one from the gallery, tap Photo or Video at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Next.
- Edit your photo or video. You can choose one of the filters along the bottom of the screen, or tap Edit (if it’s a photo) for more precise options.
- Tap Next.
- Type your caption. This is the text that you don’t want to hide.
- Tap ⏎ Return on the keyboard. It’s usually at the bottom-right corner of the keyboard. This opens a new line under your caption.
- Type a . and press ⏎ Return. Now you’ll have a line that just has a period on it.
- Type another . and press ⏎ Return. Now you’ll have two lines with periods on them.
- Type . and press ⏎ Return three more times. At the end, you’ll have 5 lines that have nothing but periods. This will effectively bury your hashtags.
- Type your hashtags. Make sure to add spaces after each hashtag.
- For example, you may type your hashtags like this: #guitars #musicstores #musicians.
- Tap Share. It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. Your image or video will appear in the feed with your hashtags hidden. People viewing your feed will see a few of the lines with periods, but your hashtags won’t be immediately visible.
