Be an Athletic Person

There are innumerable ways to be athletic. Here are some of the best ideas!

Steps

  1. Find a sport that interests you. If you pick a boring sport that doesn't interest you, you'll become bored and tired of it and want to quit.
    • See if you like individual or team sports better. There are many pros and cons to each kind, so really think about which one you'd be most compatible with. Team sports include, but are not limited to, football, soccer, lacrosse, and basketball. Some well-known individual sports are tennis and golf.
  2. Become a student of the game. Learn more and more about the sport you are in (by looking up certain things on the internet, going to the library, etc.), and learn new strategies from a coach or a person who knows about that sport.
  3. Practice. Work on your skills, take some constructive criticism, listen to a good mentor, and become stronger. You can't expect to decide one day to be a pro tennis player and wake up the next morning and be able to serve a tennis ball flawlessly. Learn your strengths and weaknesses and build upon this information.
  4. Exercise. In order to be built for a certain sport, you need to exercise. While learning about the sport, you should learn about what muscles you need to tone to benefit your game. All different sports require strength in all different areas.
  5. Eat healthier. A great workout routine should always be paired with a great diet. Don't go on any crazy diet plans, don't order food from television commercials, just do your research and eat all of the food groups every day in reasonable amounts to achieve and maintain a healthy diet.
  6. Understand that there is absolutely no secret to becoming an amazing athlete. The steps are simple: do your research, practice, exercise, eat healthy. The only challenge is sticking to your original plan and toughing it out. You will really like the results.
  7. Join a team or a league. Ask your local recreation center or school if there are any teams for your sport, and when tryout dates are. Put your new-found skills to use!
  8. Mix sports up, try something new or different. Many people fail to become athletic as they get bored with the sport or workout program. Keep an open mind and try new things.

Tips

  • Remember that you are not going to be a star athlete in a day, so remember to pick a fun sport and just keep practicing!
  • It's important that you choose a sport that is fun to you. Otherwise, you will not stick with it for a long time, and you won't get the results you want.
  • Don't give up easily. Some sports are more difficult than others and some people are naturally more athletic than others. It's normal that sports are difficult to the average person. So, stick with it and your skills will improve, which means you will have more fun! Start off with an easier sport, then move on to harder ones!
  • You do not have to excel at the sport to become athletic, just find a sport you enjoy, and practice and be consistent in that.
  • Also, make sure your academics or grades are well at school.. Usually by the school code, students who have poor/bad grades are not allowed to compete or be in games , activities, etc in the sport. So if you want to try for a sport or team and have good grades.. Go for it!! But.. If your grades are not well or don't have the requirements to tryout.. Wait a bit longer to pull them up or wait next year for the next tryouts.
  • Remember, if you don't like any sport at all just do some daily push-ups or you can run on the treadmill at an athletic center or at home.

Warnings

  • Don't overdo it the first time out. It takes time to improve your skills and athleticism.
  • Do it for the fun!
  • Don't play a sport only because your friends want you to.
  • If it hurts, stop! You don't want to hurt yourself.
  • Don't show off at the sport you are in.
  • Depending on you, you may want to consult your doctor before starting any sport.
  • Don't push yourself to the point of exhaustion.
