Bid Effectively on Freelance Jobs or Projects

Are you looking for freelance work? Initially, after reading the client’s requirement, you may think that "Oh! This project is my cup of tea." But how will you convince a potential client that you can do this work? A bid proposal is a to-the-point a summary of why you are the best to do a particular job or project. Your bid proposal allows you to highlight your background, express yourself and show that you are capable of doing the job or project with accuracy and within the deadline.

Steps

  1. Read the client's requirement carefully. Some clients will ask you to type a particular keyword to confirm that you read the entire job/project description.
    • If the client’s requirement is not specified properly, then ask questions. Asking question will increase the chances of response from the client.
  2. Bid accordingly. Bid based on the client’s requirement. Never bid or quote blindly. Don’t write the same things in all your bids (i.e. scripted bid).
  3. Don’t bid too high or too low in terms of price. Go for the average bid.
  4. Highlight your years of experience (if any). You cannot write simply that you are the best.
  5. Highlight your past projects or similar projects, if you have any. Your quote must contain your past and present work profile, including your strong portfolio.
  6. Use a straightforward bid letter to get attention. Some examples can help illustrate this:
    • A simple bid/quote:
      • Dear Sir or Madam,

I read through the job details carefully and I am absolutely sure that my team and I can tackle the project successfully. We are a team of 5 employees, and over the past 2 years we have completed 40+ projects in web application. We also work on iOS and Android application development.

We can achieve the results that you are asking for. Please check our portfolio/work (if any) or sample work (if any).

Let me know what questions I can answer for you. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time!

        Yours sincerely, (Name)
    • If you have created any similar app or website in the past or any other related work, then highlight that in your bid:
      • Dear Sir or Madam,

We have created social networking apps similar to your project in the past, and I am confident we can achieve the results you're looking for.
