Copy or Burn a CD Using Windows Media Player
(Redirected from Burn a Music CD Using Windows Media Player 9)
So, you would like to learn how to burn your favorite songs and/or video clips onto a CD on Windows Media Player, eh? Well, guess what? All you have to do is just follow the steps as usual.
Steps
- Make sure you have music tracks to burn. In order to burn a CD, the CD you want to burn has to be uploaded, or "ripped" onto Windows Media Player.
- If you have not uploaded the CD you want to burn onto Windows Media Player, insert the CD into your disk drive. When Windows Media Player recognizes the CD, press "Rip CD" on the upper left of the media player. It will take a few minutes to copy the CD onto your computer.
- If you want to assemble a mix, or songs from different CDs, compile a playlist. Create a playlist on the upper left hand side of the media player (right next to "Rip CD") by pressing the "Create Playlist" button and naming it. Drag and drop songs that are already in your media player into your new playlist.
- If you have a list of songs from the internet that you want burned onto a CD, you can download them (illegally) from YouTube using a URL-to-Mp3 website. Click here to learn how. Put the newly-downloaded songs into a playlist.
- Insert a blank CD into the disk drive of your computer. This will be the burned CD that will be a copy of the original CD.
- Note: Most CDs have limited space on them. The standard CD has hold up to 80 minutes of songs or around 700MB worth of songs. Each song, depending on length and quality, is usually somewhere from 3MB to 7MB large.
- Locate the "Burn" tab on the top right of the media player. It should have no list of songs indicated yet. You should also be able to see your blank CD as well.
- Drag the album or playlist you want burned onto the "Burn" tab. You should be able to see a list of the songs that will be burned onto your blank CD.
- Manipulate the burn settings by clicking on the "burn options" button on the far right.
- Use the burn options to set the length in between songs, the burn speed (which affects the quality of the burned songs), as well as the track list.
- Hit the "Start Burn" button in the "Burn" tab. The progress of the burn should be indicated by a green progress window.
- Wait until the burn is complete. When complete, the disk drive will automatically eject your burned CD.
- Check to see whether your CD has successfully burned by inserting it into a CD player or another computer. It should be an exact copy of the CD or playlist you wanted burned.
Tips
- Before you label your CDs, it's a good idea to test them first to make sure they work.
- For a professional look, get CD/DVD Labels and use the template to create your own CD/DVD labels, so you don't have to go with the boring black marker look. These are available at home office stores.
- Label the CDs with a black felt-tip marker, like a Use a Sharpie, for instance, after you burned them on your computer.
Warnings
- Sometimes, not all desired tracks can be burned onto your CD, so do not add too much.
- Do not give track protected CDs to people.
