Buy a jacket with good protection and support. Some jackets have armor built in, just in case of impact, but that is not always necessary. It depends on your preference.

Try to look for leather. Leather is durable and provides a large amount of protection. It's a good winter jacket. However, unless it has vents, it is not a great jacket for the summer.
