Making Your German Helmet Liner Smaller

If your liner doesn't fit in your helmet, you can easily adjust it by following these steps.

Steps

  1. Gather the necessary materials. You will need the following:
    • A drill
    • Drill bits (3mm, 4mm, and 8mm)
    • Pop rivet gun
    • 3mm pop rivets
  2. Drill the rivets on the back side of the liner (the side with one hole in it). First with 3mm, and then with 4mm drill bit. You should be able to make your liner smaller by just pushing the sides towards each other.
  3. Mark the desired size.
  4. Drill the holes for the new rivets in one of the sides of the liner.
  5. Fit the liner in your helmet.
  6. Position the liner so the straps are in the correct position. They should be perpendicular to the line of sight from the helmet.
  7. Mark the big 8mm hole where it should be drilled.
  8. Finished.

Tips

  • Put something between outer liner shell and inner springs so you don't damage them.
  • Wear safety gloves so you don't cut yourself on the springs of the liner.

Warnings

  • Don't do this with original liners. Only do this with replicas.
