Calculate Taxi Fare on TaxiFareFinder.com

Going on a business trip? Planning on traveling soon? Know you will be taking a cab home at the end of the night? In these circumstances, and many more, it is very helpful to know a taxi fare ahead of time, but it is often difficult to simply estimate or find a reputable source to provide this information. One way to accurately calculate a taxi fare, using TaxiFareFinder.com, is listed in detail below. This source provides accurate fares calculated using an algorithm that takes into account many considerations including: inclement weather, traffic jams, and even a taxi driver's driving habits.

Steps

  1. Enter the city where you will be beginning your ride. This is where the taxi will be picking you up. You can choose from a list of provided cities or from a list of airports for travelers.
  2. Enter your starting point. This is the specific place within the city where you wish to be picked up from. You can manually enter an address or choose a point of interest (POI). The P.O.I. will be specific to the city you entered in step 1.
  3. Enter your desired destination. Again, you can manually enter an address or you can choose from a POI list specific to the city chosen in step 1.
  4. Click to calculate fare.
  5. Receive your personalized fare. You will be given an estimated fare and route - the beginning point of your route is shown on the map by the green A point and the end destination is shown on the map by the green B point. You can choose the fastest, cheapest, or shortest route depending on what you think is the most important aspect of your ride. You can do this by clicking the icons underneath the map displayed and the new route will be displayed via a purple line. Also, additional information about the calculated fare is displayed under the results heading, under the fare information tab. This section includes possible additional costs that could be factored into your final fare and increase the site's original estimated fare.
  6. Look over information. You will also be given an approximate breakdown of the estimated fare, which conveniently includes a tip for the driver. Also, the phone numbers of taxi companies within the city chosen will be displayed so that you can have the contact information ahead of time and easily request a taxi.
  7. Look over chosen route. A breakdown of whatever route you choose will be provided. This is to ensure that your driver takes you on your desired route. Also, sometimes, if taxi drivers know you are a visitor and unfamiliar with the area, they will try to bring you a longer route, this tool makes sure that you are always in control of the route you are driven.
  8. Print out your results to have as a reference!

Tips

  • Planning on traveling soon? Whether your trip is big or small, it is always important to know what expenses you should expect to pay throughout your journey – from hotel fees to transportation costs to meal bills. It is easy to estimate total costs for transportation like airplanes, trains, and buses, but more difficult to plan for taxi fares when exploring an unknown place. If a driver knows you are a tourist and unfamiliar with the city, sometimes they will take a longer or more expensive route; have the print out of the estimated fare with you so that you are in control of the route driven.
  • Know that you'll be taking a cab home at the end of the night? When you're going out for the night, it is usually a good idea to have a general amount in your mind about how much money you will spend and need to bring. Taking nightly activities, food, and drink into account, often the taxi ride home at the very end of the night is overlooked. However, when public transportation closes or you are unable to drive, a taxi is necessary – but it is essential to have enough money, often enough cash, to pay the driver completely. Look at the estimated fare ahead of time so you and your friends know what to expect to pay at the end of the night.
  • Going on a business trip? Often companies require an estimation of expenses when employees travel for business purposes. This is generally so that funds can be allotted ahead of time or so honesty is maintained. Print out the fare estimation to give to your company for estimated funds needed on your tip.
