Change Age on YouTube

YouTube is a Google property, and like other sites the company owns, it gets age information about you from your Google+ account. So, in order to change your age on YouTube, you have to alter (or add) your birthdate on Google+.

Steps

Using Your Computer

  1. Go to YouTube.com.
  2. Click on "Sign in." It's the blue link in the upper right corner of the browser window.
    • Your browser may automatically sign you into Google+. If this is the case, click on your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
  3. Enter your credentials.
  4. Click on "Sign In."
  5. Click on your profile picture. You should see your Google+ profile picture in the upper-right corner of the browser window. When you click on it, a dialog box will open.
  6. Click on your email address.
  7. Click on "Your personal info." The link is located on the far left side of the browser window, in the center, under the "Personal info & privacy" menu.
  8. Click on "Birthday."
  9. Click on the edit icon. Located to the right of the birthday info displayed on your screen, the edit icon is a gray pencil.
  10. Update your birthday.
  11. Click on "Update." This is in blue text in the lower right corner of the dialog box.
  12. Click on "Confirm." Your age will now be changed on YouTube.

Using a Mobile Device

  1. Tap Your Web Browser App.
  2. Go to plus.google.com.
  3. Click on "Sign in." It's a link in white text on the blue bar in the upper right corner of the browser window.
    • Your browser may automatically sign you into Google+. If this is the case, tap the menu icon. It is a series of three horizontal, white lines located in the upper-left of your screen.
  4. Enter your credentials.
  5. Tap "Sign In."
    • If you have downloaded the Google+ app, it may automatically launch at this point. This method works in the Google+ app, as well.
  6. Tap on the menu icon. It is a series of three horizontal, white lines located in the upper-left of your screen.
  7. Tap "Profile." It is the fourth item in the menu.
    • If you have been redirected to the Google+ app, it will be the first menu item.
  8. Tap "About." The link appears in gray text in the upper-right corner of your screen.
    • In the Google+ app, the link will appear in white text.
  9. Scroll to "Gender, birthday, and more." Depending on how complete your profile is, you may have to scroll several times to locate this menu. It is just below "Places."
  10. Tap the edit icon. This a gray pencil to the right of "Gender, birthday, and more."
  11. Tap the info icon. This is a gray circle that contains a white "i" and is located to the right of your birthday.
  12. Tap "Go to my Account." A blue box will open, asking if you need to edit your birthday, tap on it to be taken to the account page.
  13. Tap the edit icon. Located to the right of the birthday info displayed on your screen, the edit icon is a gray pencil.
  14. Update your birthday.
  15. Tap "Update."
  16. Tap "Confirm." Your age is now changed in YouTube.

Warnings

  • Be aware that Google's terms and conditions do not allow children under the age of 18 to watch restricted videos. If you furnish a phony birth date to Google, you could be banned from YouTube.
