Change Lot Zoning in the Sims 2 Bon Voyage

You bought the Sims 2 hoping that you would be able to make your own hotels, then you install the game and find out even though the game is based on traveling you can't make hotels! Here's the cheat that can let you make your own vacation getaways.

Steps

  1. Create a lot and make either a residential or community lot.
  2. Bring up the cheat box. (Shift+Control+C)
  3. Type in: changelotzoning hotel
  4. Hit enter.
  5. Save your game, exit to the neighborhood.
  6. Click on the lot and where it says what type of lot zoning it is, it should now say 'Lodging'.

Tips

  • You can change the lot zoning back to community or residential by typing in: changelotzoning community, and: changelotzoning residential. You will have to load the lot, enter the cheat, exit back out of the lot to the neighborhood, then re-load the lot to make this method effective.
  • First you should make your hotel even though it's not zoned for it, because once it's changed it won't let you build as much as you used to be able to! One example is you won't be able to add or remove any walls.
  • OR you can gain back the building tools WITHOUT changing the lots by typing in: boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled false. Remember to restart your Build mode by switching into Buy Mode for it to show effect.
  • It's preferable to build in community mode before changing to hotel mode because if you build in residential mode, you don't get access to all the community lot things such as dining/shopping/hotel desk.

Warnings

  • Make sure to put hotel doors instead of normal doors
