Clean a Dirty White Macbook

Do you have a dirty Macbook? Even if you have a Blackbook, you will know that both of them attract oil, dirt, and other things that will make your Macbook very unattractive. You can do the following to the Macbook Pro, iBook, or Powerbooks if you like too.

Steps

  1. Remove the battery to prevent any electrical damage to the laptop.
  2. Spray microfiber cloth with the cleaning solution.
  3. Fold the cloth into a small square so you can use one side to hold the solution and the other side for drying the solution.
  4. Wipe the front of the computer in small circles. Dry that area after you are done wiping the small area. Do not wipe the entire thing down or else the solution will dry on the computer and will leave water markings on the laptop.
  5. Open the computer and repeat the process for the cloth. Some areas to get are the very top where you open the computer next to the iSight. The palm rest and the track pad will get black after time. The space bar is a button used a lot when typing, don't forget to wipe that down too!
  6. Wipe down the bottom of the laptop. The bottom will not be as dirty.
  7. Replace the battery and admire the work you just did.

Tips

  • Sometimes food and dust particles can fall into the keyboard crevices. Before performing a more intensive cleaning, turn the laptop upside down and shake the machine very gently.
  • Clean your Macbook every week. It will help keep your work to a minimum.
  • Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are best for cleaning gray dirty buildup on the Macbook keyboard and casing.
  • Palm rest protectors from Marware will minimize your work of cleaning your Apple laptop.

Warnings

  • Do not use any solution with ammonia or alcohol in it, this will eat away at the plastic coating of the Macbook. Even though the Macbook Pro is aluminum, follow the same guide lines as the Macbook.
  • Do not wipe any of the internals of the computer after removing the battery. You may damage something!
