Create a Signature from a Built in iSight in Mac OS X Lion
Apple’s line of Mac desktop and notebook PCs have for a long time included built-in iSight cameras capable of capturing still photos and video. In Mac OS X Lion, the latest operating system release, there are a number of new features that take advantage of your Mac’s camera. This article will walk you through the process of creating a signature using your built in iSight camera in OS X Lion.
Steps
- Navigate to your Applications folder (or dock) and launch the “Preview” app.
- Click the “Preview” menu from the menu bar followed by “Preferences” from the context menu.
- Select “Signatures” followed by “Create Signature”.
- Hold up your signature to your Mac’s built in camera and align it with the blue line in the “Signature Capture” pane.
- Click the “Accept” button to capture your signature and complete the process.
Tips
- You can open Launchpad in OS X Lion using custom shortcuts or hot corners by setting them in System Preferences.
- Swipe between pages of apps in Launchpad by clicking and holding your mouse while making a swiping gesture left or right, or use a two finger gesture on your trackpad.

- OS X Lion is only available as a downloadable upgrade through the Mac App Store.
