Browse and Restore Past Versions of a Document in OS X Lion
One of the major new features in Mac OS X Lion is Versions. By taking advantage of a new Auto Save feature, OS X Lion allows you to browse through past versions of documents that are automatically saved while you work. This eliminates the need to manually save, allowing to you always access past revisions of your document. This article will teach you how to browse and restore past versions of a document in OS X Lion.
Steps
- Click and hold the document title within the application window to reveal the Version's context menu.
- Select “Browse All Versions…” from the context menu. This will reveal the Version's timeline interface.
- Scroll through past versions of your document by clicking the visible versions or sliding the timeline slider on the right.
- Click the “Restore” button when your viewing the Version you’d like to restore.
Tips
- Swipe between pages of apps in Launchpad by clicking and holding your mouse while making a swiping gesture left or right, or use a two finger gesture on your trackpad.
- You can open Launchpad in OS X Lion using custom shortcuts or hot corners by setting them in System Preferences.
Warnings
- OS X Lion is only available as a downloadable upgrade through the Mac App Store.
