Create a Watermark in Adobe Illustrator


A watermark is an imprint that is applied to graphic imagery to ensure quality control and ownership. They can be pictures, symbols, or text. This tutorial will show you how to create your own watermark.

Steps

  1. Use Type Tool to write your watermark. You can use any wordage you chose. For example: "Not Final," or "For Approval Only."
  2. Select your watermark text. Follow this path: Effect > 3D > Extrude&Bevel
  3. You will see 3D Extrude&Bevel Options box, type number in the box as shown in the picture below.
  4. Open the picture you want marked. Place your text at the center and convert it to white.
  5. Go to Transparency panel and set it to multiply.
  6. Set Opacity 50 percent.
