Do Dirt Bike Maneuvers

This article will teach the reader how to maneuver through ruts. There are several more pages for different techniques.

Steps

  1. Keep your feet clear of the ground. If you catch your foot in a race, the chances of injuries occurring are high.
  2. In corners, keep weight on the outside peg. This helps line up and stay in the rut.
  3. Use your front wheel to aim at your line, but look ahead. This helps by letting you know what is coming up.
  4. Keep a consistent speed while riding through and do not let off the throttle. This prepares you for blasting into the next section.
  5. Brake coming into the rut.' Speed is important but control is higher on that list.

Tips

  • If you have trouble staying in the rut, look at the angle and try to lean the bike over to match up with it. Leaning too far will shoot you out of the top of the rut. Sometimes, if you are at the right angle, the bike will flow through the rut by itself.
  • Stay on your toes and stick your inside leg out to catch yourself if you lose it. Keep your knee slightly bent to avoid pain.
  • If you don't feel comfortable riding a rut, go around or take a different line.
