Download Winamp for Mac

There is no production level WinAmp for the Apple Macintosh. However, you can download the beta at hitsquad.com or tucows.com.

However, this will work on PowerPC Macs that run Mac OS X 10.4 or older or Mac OS 8.5-9.0 without the Classic environment. It should not run on Mac OS X 10.5 or Intel Macs because they do not have the Classic environment.

Steps

  1. Start the Classic environment in Mac OS X 10.0-10.4 on a PowerPC Mac or boot the Mac into Mac OS 8.5-9.2.2.
  2. Download and unstuff the application using Stuffit Expander.
  3. Add music into the playlist by clicking on the add button and play it. To play a URL from Shoutcast, use Open URL from the File menu.

Tips

  • This is from the same time as WinAmp 2 for Windows and use it like that despite its limitations.

Warnings

  • WinAmp for Mac will not work on Intel Macs or Macs that run Mac OS X 10.5 because they do not have the Classic environment nor will Intel Macs boot into OS 9.
  • It will not play CDs nor will it import them into MP3s. It will not support MP4 files and
