Download the Facebook Application for the iPhone

This article teaches you how to download the Facebook mobile application from your iPhone's App Store.

Steps

  1. Open your iPhone's App Store. This app is light blue with a white "A" made from writing utensils on its front.
  2. Tap Search. It's the magnifying glass icon on the bottom-right side of the screen.
  3. Tap the search bar. It's at the top of the screen.
  4. Type "facebook" into the search bar and tap Search. As long as you spell "facebook" correctly, Facebook will be the first non-sponsored search item on the results page.
  5. Tap GET, then tap INSTALL. These buttons are on the right side of the screen across from the Facebook icon. They'll be in the same place as each other.
    • If you've downloaded Facebook before, you'll see a cloud icon with a downward-facing arrow instead of GET and INSTALL.
    • If you currently have Facebook on your device, this option will say "Open". Tapping it will open the Facebook app.
  6. Enter your Apple ID password, if prompted. Since Facebook is free, you may not have to enter your Apple ID; if you're asked to do so, type it into the provided field and tap OK. Your download will commence.
    • You can also scan your fingerprint if you have Touch ID enabled.
    • If you aren't currently logged in with your Apple ID, you'll also need to enter your email address.
  7. Wait for Facebook to finish downloading. You'll find the Facebook app on the one of your iPhone's additional screens (not the Home Screen).

Tips

  • This process will also work for the iPad and the iPod Touch.
  • Once Facebook is finished downloading, tap it to enter your login information and begin using it right away.

Warnings

  • If your iPhone is too old to support Facebook, you can still use the desktop site in your iPhone's browser.
