Draw Cars

Have you always wanted to draw good cars, but they always end up badly? If so, try this step by step article and you will be drawing cars like a pro.

Steps

Method One: A Sedan

  1. Draw a 3D semi flat rectangle for the body.
  2. Add two ovals for the wheels.
  3. Draw 3D semi trapezoidal shape for the top part of the sedan.
  4. Draw two rectangles for the headlights, add an inverted trapezoid in between for the grills.
  5. Draw a trapezoid divided in the middle for the windows.
  6. Add two small ovals for the side mirrors.
  7. Draw a series of lines for the doors and handles.
  8. Based on the outline, draw the main details of the sedan.
  9. Add more details to the rims, body, grills, and headlights
  10. Erase the unnecessary outlines.
  11. Color your car.

Method Two: A Classic Car

  1. Draw a mailbox shape for the front part of the car.
  2. Draw box for the passenger cabin of the car.
  3. Draw two circles for the headlights and add a triangle at the back side.
  4. Draw arcs connected with a line in between for the fenders.
  5. Draw ovals for the wheels of the car.
  6. Add rectangles for the windows and plate of the car.
  7. Based on the outline, complete the body of the car.
  8. Add details such as rim, front grills, and lights.
  9. Erase the unnecessary outlines.
  10. Color your classic car!

Method Three: Realistic Car

  1. Make two big rectangles joined together.
  2. Draw one oval on the top of the rectangle and add a slanting line from one corner of the rectangle to the oval. Add another line from the oval to the second rectangle.
  3. Remove the lines which is outside of the slanting line.
  4. Now we get the basic shape of the car. Add more rectangles and slanting lines for the window of the car.
  5. Draw two big circles one into another for one wheel. Do the same for another wheel.
  6. Add different size circles for the wheel.
  7. Add lines for detailing of the wheel. Place two ovals for the headlight of the car.
  8. Add one rectangle in the bottom of the car and more circles and ovals for the mirror and the headlight.
  9. Based on the entire layout, draw every possible detail.
  10. Remove all unnecessary lines.
  11. Color and shade the car.

Method Four: Cartoon Car

  1. Start by drawing two overlapping ovals.
  2. Draw out another one into upper oval.
  3. Add two more ovals with two small ovals in it for the eyes.
  4. Now remove the overlapping lines in the eyes. Add more ovals for the eyeballs.
  5. Now draw one big oval for the car body and two small ovals for the wheels.
  6. Now place two more ovals for the eyebrows and do the same for another eyebrows.
  7. Keep adding two more overlapping small ovals for the curves of the smile. Do the same for other side.
  8. Now based on the guidelines, start drawing the details.
  9. Erase all unnecessary lines.
  10. Color the car. Add some shadows and depth.
