Draw Manga Eyes

These are just 2 ways to draw Manga eyes. Learn how to draw those shimmery, fading Manga eyes that professionals use. Your artistry will be much better once you follow these steps.

Steps

Child Eyes

  1. Draw a couple of curved lines facing each other.
  2. Draw hairs of the character in the way shown.
  3. Draw a small curved line for one eyebrow.
  4. Draw another curved line for another eyebrow.
  5. Draw a big angular oval for one of the eyes.
  6. Add two more ovals, one inside the other for one of the eye and overlap the innermost circle with three small ovals.
  7. Draw another big angular oval for the other eye.
  8. Follow the same instructions from image 6 and apply it on the other eye.
  9. Add a tiny curved line for the nose between the eyes.
  10. On the basis of the guides make every detail with thick and thin lines.
  11. Erase all unnecessary lines and add a couple of lines for the hair highlight also.
  12. Color the head with the manga-eyes.

Normal Eyes

  1. Draw an eyebrow with a slightly curved line.
  2. Draw another curved line similar to the earlier one for the eyebrow.
  3. Draw the eyes’ outline.
  4. Create an eyeball for one eye.
  5. Draw an inner circle within it.
  6. Make a small circle overlapping the edge of the innermost circle and even a smaller one beside it.
  7. Draw the eyeball of the other eye as well.
  8. Draw another oval within it.
  9. Complete the eye-drawing by placing a couple of highlight oval-areas.
  10. Draw the nose.
  11. Add a small mouth to the head.
  12. Draw the edges to the head with straight lines.
  13. Complete the guides with hair-lines.
  14. Add every detailing to the head.
  15. Erase all lines except the lines of the eyes as shown here.
  16. Color the drawing.

Draw Using Guidelines

  1. Draw the shape of the character's head and sketch lines to indicate the placement of the eyes and the center of the face.
  2. Sketch lines to indicate how tall and wide the eyes should be.
  3. Sketch the eyes and details using the lines as guides.
  4. Add the eyebrows.
  5. Use a smaller tipped drawing tool to refine the artwork and add more detail.
  6. Draw outlines using the refined sketch as a guide.
  7. Erase the sketch marks to produce a clean outlined drawing.
  8. Add color.

Draw Using Shapes

  1. Draw the shape of the character's head and the lines for the eyes' location.
  2. Add marks to indicate the size and height of each eye.
  3. Sketch the eyes shape (notice how they vary from one style to another).
  4. Add the eyebrows.
  5. Use a smaller tipped drawing tool to refine the artwork and add more detail.
  6. Draw outlines using the refined sketch as a guide.
  7. Erase the sketch marks and add color.



Tips

  • Draw the head before the eyes. It will help with the placement of the eyes, so your character's head will not be squashed.
  • Girl's eyes and boy's eyes have noticeable differences, for example eyelash length. Use this to your advantage to make your eye more noticeable.
  • Reading manga books and watching anime really helps your artwork. If you see something in the drawings that you like, you can try to copy the drawing and you will eventually develop your own style of eyes.
