Draw a Parrot

Parrots are mainly green but many of them are brightly multicolored. They are also among the most intelligent of birds since they can copy the voices of humans. If you want to learn how to draw them, follow these simple steps on how draw a parrot.

Steps

A Realistic Parrot

  1. Draw one small tapered oval for the head of the parrot and a big oval for the body.
  2. Add two ovals for the wings.
  3. Draw more ovals to define the beak and legs. Draw semi triangular shape for the tail.
  4. Draw small triangles to define the nails. Place one big rectangle for the parrot to rest.
  5. Darken the lines and start drawing the curves and ridges.
  6. Draw the detail based on the layout.
  7. Color and shade the parrot to look real.

A Cartoon Parrot

  1. Draw a circle for the head of the parrot and an oval just below it for the body.
  2. Add another circle for the eyes and an extended triangle for the tail.
  3. Draw one tapered oval on the big oval for its wings. Add small oval for beak. Place two legs.
  4. Based on the entire layout, draw the details.
  5. Add a horizontal line for parrot to rest.
  6. Erase the unnecessary lines.
  7. Color the parrot.

A Traditional Parrot

  1. Draw a small circle for the parrot’s head.
  2. Draw the curved bill connected to the circle. Draw a small circle to show the eye.
  3. Draw an oblong connected to the circle for the body. Draw a pointed and extended oblong attached to this for the tail feathers.
  4. Draw details for the parrot’s wings.
  5. Draw details for the branch it holds to and its clawed feet using curve lines.
  6. Draw details for the parrot’s feathers. Refine the drawing.
  7. Trace with a pen and erase unnecessary lines.
  8. Color to your liking!

An Alternative Cartoon Parrot

  1. Draw a circle for the parrot’s head.
  2. Draw another circle of about the same size which overlaps the first circle.
  3. Draw the two oblongs which overlap the second circle for the wings and tail feathers.
  4. Draw details for the beak using curve lines. Draw small circles for the feet and the eye.
  5. Refine the drawing by adding details for the body and feathers for the wings and tail.
  6. Trace with a pen and erase unnecessary lines.
  7. Color to your liking!
