Draw a Bird

Birds are warm-blooded animals which are distinguished for their feathers and forelimbs modified as wings. Birds in action are a favorite sight in nature.[1][2]

Steps

A Cartoon Bird

  1. Draw two circles which overlap each other. The top circle is slightly bigger than the bottom circle.
  2. Draw two rings for the bird’s eyes. Draw crescent curves inside the circles or rings to resemble cartoon eyes.
  3. Draw the details for the bird’s beak at the middle of the two circles.
  4. Draw additional details for the bird’s head.
  5. Draw the bird’s wings using rounded curves extending from the body.
  6. Draw details for the bird’s feet, legs, and tail feathers.
  7. Trace with a pen and erase unnecessary lines. Add additional details.
  8. Color to your liking!

A Traditional Bird

  1. Draw two circles to provide framework for the drawing. One circle is small and at the upper right of the page, the other is big at the middle of the page.
  2. Draw curve lines connecting the two circles to form the bird’s body.
  3. Draw a slender triangle with a middle line to form the beak. The triangle extends at the lower right.
  4. Refine the drawing by adding details for the eyes and feathers for the wings.
  5. Draw the slender legs using straight lines.
  6. Trace with a pen and erase unnecessary lines. Draw details for the feathers around the body.
  7. Color to your liking!

Tips

  • Sketch lightly so that if you make a mistake, you won't destroy the paper by rubbing it out.
  • Make sure to keep your pencil well-sharpened.
  • It is better when using a pencil than a pen so you can erase your mistakes.
  • Make sure to write lightly.
