Draw a Rat
Learning to draw a rat is as easy as learning to draw a mouse! Here's an easy tutorial to help you figure out how.
Steps
- Draw a circle, an oval and a triangle connected with each as shown. This will be the basis for the head.
- Draw in a small, round triangle and a curved line for the ears. Don't just make them circles, tempting as it may be. Add in a small circle for the eyes and a nose.
- Draw an oval for the upper body and a large circle for the lower half. Remember, rats are larger than mice and a bit longer, do their body type is slightly different.
- Draw two small ovals for each leg, with a larger set for the back legs. Add in two small circles each with small fingers for the paws.
- Draw a long tail for the rat. The tail should be much thicker than a mouse tail, with ridges along it.
- Add in details like whiskers and tiny claws. Outline your rat and remove any unnecessary guidelines.
- Color in your drawing. Rats are typically white, grey, black, or brown, and although they get a pretty bad rap, your rat might have a calm or cheerful disposition--that part is up to you to incorporate.
Tips
- Draw lightly in pencil so that you can easily rub out mistakes.
- If you want to use markers/watercolors to color your drawing, use paper that is relatively thick and line over your pencil more darkly before doing so.
