Drift With No Brakes on a Bike

Learning how to drift is quite easy, but it takes patience.

Steps

  1. Get a reasonable speed that you feel comfortable at but not too slow.
  2. Lean forward and to the side you're turning (lean left or right).
  3. Stick out your left foot to the side if turning left, or right foot if turning right.
  4. Turn sharply and push with your foot a little bit if necessary.
  5. Keep going and don't use the brakes. Good luck!

Tips

  • Try it when the ground is wet; it's a challenge but it's fun.
  • To stop, either drift the other way for about 3 times or tap the back brakes and when the tire locks let go and tap again.

Warnings

  • If you lean or turn too much, the bike will slide sideways or turn the other way and you can cause serious injury.
  • If you must bike without brakes, stay on flat, soft terrain.
  • Always wear protective gear.
  • If you have bad front tires then do not try this. The front will slip and the bike will fall on its side.
  • Never use a bicycle with no brakes on public streets, hilly areas, or in traffic. The results can be tragic.

Things You'll Need

  • BMX bike
  • preferably bald or slick back tires
