Edit FLV in Adobe Premiere
Despite the fact that flash video (FLV) is the most generally compatible format for sharing video on the Internet, Adobe Premiere (like many video editing software packages) doesn't accept FLV files for editing and re-composition. One way to get around this limitation is to convert the FLV files you wish to edit into a format that is compatible with Premiere, such as AVI or MPG-- an often tedious and lengthy ordeal. A far simpler solution has emerged with downloadable plug-in software that allows you to import FLV files directly into Adobe Premiere for editing (no conversion necessary). Follow the steps below to take advantage of this convenient and time-saving shortcut.
Steps
- Download and install the FLV importer plug-in. The most well-known and highly rated option is the Moyea FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere, which can be purchased online or downloaded for a free trial. Once the download is finished, complete the installation of the plug-in as prompted.
- Start Adobe Premiere, and open the project in which you want to use FLV files. To start a new project using FLV files, select "New" from the "File" menu. Or, to add FLV files to an existing project with other video or movie formats, select "Open Project" from the same menu.
- Click on the "File" menu, then select "Import." In the "Import" dialog box, find the "Look in" drop down list to locate the saved FLV file you want to import.
- Select the FLV file you want to use, and click the "Open" button. This will close the "Import" dialog box, and open the FLV file in Adobe Premiere.
- Successfully imported, the flash video can now be edited alongside other video files in the timeline.
