Edit Your Skills on Freelancer

Freelancer is a great site for people to connect and work together online. It is easy to see why you would want relevant skill information on the website; it will help you get the best job for you. Luckily, setting up new skills on your account is easy and can be done in just a few minutes.

Steps

  1. Open an Internet browser. Double-click the browser’s shortcut icon on your desktop to launch it.
    • If you already have a browser up, open a new browser tab instead.
  2. Go to Freelancer. On the address bar, type in http://www.freelancer.com and hit Enter.
  3. Log in. Click “Sign in” at the top-right side of the screen, and enter your username and password on the fields provided. Once you’re done, click “Sign in” to access your account.
  4. Open the Edit Skills page. Move your mouse over the button that says “Profile” at the top of the screen and a drop-down menu will appear. From the drop-down menu, select the Edit Skills option. This will open a new page where you can change your skills.
  5. Select a skill category (job type). You can select up to 20 skills on your profile at once. If you scroll down the page, you will see a large list of different job types, from data entry to translation and language. Click on the job type where you want to put your skills.
    • Keep in mind these skills you select dictate what kinds of projects you can bid on. Choose wisely!
  6. Add skills. After you click a job type, a huge list of subcategories will pop up below each job. Each subcategory has a check box beside it. If you click on the check box, you will select that skill as something you are good at. Go through the list and find 20 subcategories that describe what you are good at.
  7. Save. After you select all of your relevant skills click on the blue “Save” changes button at the bottom of the screen to finalize your changes.
