End a Contract on oDesk
oDesk is a great site to use if you are a freelance writer or client. There are a ton of different categories, so you are bound to find a job that is perfect for you. You might find yourself in a situation with a client where it is just not going well, either they are not paying you properly or have very poor communication. Either way, ending your contract on oDesk is easy and can be accomplished in just a couple of minutes.
Steps
- Launch an Internet browser. Double-click the icon of your preferred Internet browser on your desktop.
- Head to oDesk. Once your browser is open, type in http://www.odesk.com on the address bar and hit Enter. This will load up the main oDesk login page for you to sign in.
- Sign into your oDesk account. There are two boxes on the top of the screen: for your email address and password; click each box and type in your information then click “Sign in.”
- Access “My Jobs.” Click on “My Jobs” at the top of the screen, and a screen will populate showing all of the active contracts you have going on at this point and time.
- Select the job you wish to end and view its details. Below each active job in the list is a blue link that says “Job Details.” Click on the “Job Details” next to the job you wish to end to load more information about the job.
- End the contract. On the bottom-right side of the screen you will find two options under the heading “Contract Details”: Refund and End Contract. Click on “End Contract.”
- Give a reason why you want to end the contract. A new screen will appear where you have to enter information about why you want to end the contract.
- Rate the client. After stating your reason, you can rate the client on whether you’d recommend the client to another user. There is a bubble next to each option between 0 and 10; click the bubble that signifies how you feel about the client.
- Leave a comment. Below the rating area is a box for your comments about the job. You can leave additional information by clicking the box and typing inside it. You can type the negatives and the positives, if you want; this is optional.
- Finalize your decision. Click the green “Continue” button at the bottom of the page, and this will officially end your oDesk contract.
Tips
- Remember, when you are filling out your information about your experience, be honest! Your honest opinion will help other users determine if they want to work for a particular client or not.
