Erase Web History in Firefox

If you want to hide your recent activity and delete your web history in Mozilla Firefox, then this is the article for you.

Steps

Firefox 2.6

  1. Click Firefox. With the program open, click the orange Firefox button in the top left corner.
  2. Hover over History. A menu will appear when you click Firefox. Hover over the word History in the right-hand side of the menu.
  3. Click "Clear Recent History". This will bring up your clearing options.
  4. Select your time range. Select how far back you want to erase your history.
  5. Select what to erase. There are a number of different items that you can erase. If you just don't want someone accidentally finding where you've been going, erase the first 4 items (browsing history, forms, cookies, and cache).
  6. Click "Clear Now". After that, you're done!

Firefox 4

  1. Click on 'Tools' in the Firefox menu.
  2. Click on 'Clear Recent History'.
  3. Check the boxes of which you would like to delete.
  4. Click 'Clear Now'.

Firefox 3.6 and Under

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Open Firefox Options (Tools > Options).
  3. Click on the Privacy tab.
  4. Click clear your recent history.
  5. Select the time range you want to delete. If you want to delete all your history then select Everything.
    • If you chose Everything, then check all options.
  6. Click on Clear Now.
  7. Click on Ok.
  8. Restart Firefox.



Tips

  • If you are on a shared computer, clear your recent history every time you finish your session.

Warnings

  • When cleared, History cannot be restored except after a system restore.
