- Dampen the bill you wish to smooth out by dipping it in water.
- Place money on iron board and begin ironing the money lightly. Be sure not to press down too hard or for too long.
Coin Method 1
- Use a coin flattening machine at a local amusement park or museum.
- Note: usually these machines will also put a design into your coin... and usually they will flatten only pennies.
Coin Method 2
- Place a small dab of poster putty on your coin.
- Stick the coin to a hard, clean surface such as polished cement.
- Wear safety goggles.
- Hammer the coin flat.
- Note: This will take some time. Be methodical about the placement of your hammer blows for the most even result.
Wall Method
- Find a corner of a wall or door, preferably clean.
- Take each side of the bill in one hand and stretch it out lengthwise.
- Place the middle of the bill on the corner of the wall or door.
- Move the bill side to side rubbing against the corner until desired flatness occurs.
- Note: Do not push too hard against the corner or you will rip the bill.
Tips
- When ironing the money use light strokes. You can steam press the money too. Just don't keep it there.
Warnings
- Don't hold the iron on the money for too long or it can burn.
- Only mess with an iron if you know how to work with one.
- Be very careful for the iron can be very hot.
