Get Bug Splats off the Front of Your Car
Here's a quick and paint-safe way to remove bug splats from the front of your car, and to make it easier to remove them the next time.
Contents
Steps
- Soak the bug splats with an automotive exterior / bug cleaner like Prestone 50/50 or a similar product in a spray bottle. Wait about ten minutes.
- Spray the splats with a hard stream of water from a hose.
- Gently remove the tough ones with a wet terrycloth washcloth.
- After they're gone, wash the front of the car as you normally would.
- Coat the area with a liberal amount of spray-as-you-dry car wax ("Express Wax" or similar). Polish as directed.
- Allow the car to dry naturally.
Tips
- Don't allow bug splats to accumulate. They can permanently stain the paint.
- The above process should be much easier next time.
- Don't forget to remove the bug bodies from the radiator.
Warnings
- Never use a dry cloth on auto paint. You can easily scratch the finish.
